Vieja is starting to expand the concept of
"Gourd Masque"  As exciting as the masks are, the thought of creating 3 dimensional, free standing sculptures is too exciting not to explore.

She is standing just shy of 6 ft tall. The base was crudely drawn to suggest a woman hunched over and was brilliantly executed by metal designer
Dick Kolpack.  Vieja has intricate carving, inlaid Chinese Turquoise, waxed sinew stitched around the eyes, leather dye and pyrography.
